Offshore

Supplementary course (STCW to Norwegian Oil and Gas)

Introduction

In order to work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf one needs Norwegian Oil and Gas certificate (ex OLF certificate).

Course content

  1. Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) including:
    • helicopter emergency procedures;
    • preparation for helicopter ditching;
    • evacuation from the helicopter;
    • survival techniques in water;
    • deployment and operation of Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS).
  2. Course module: the use of escape chute.
  3. Mandatory BST e-learning course (online).

The e-learning course will ensure that all course participants have acquired basic theoretical knowledge about the HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) culture before arriving at the course center.

Target group
All personnel seeking employment in the offshore oil and gas industry on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Duration
1 day for the Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) and escape chute training in Stavanger. BST e-learning module can be taken online at home prior to arriving to Stavanger.

Location
The course takes place in Stavanger:

  • HUET in Solborg Folkehøyskole (location – );
  • Escape chute in Tømmerodden, Hundvåg (location – ).

Transportation between locations will be organized by SOTS Course Center.

Price
The price is 625 EUR and includes the training, lunch, certification and transportation between the training locations. Not included: accommodation and transportation to and from the hotel. SOTS Course Centre can give recommendations for the accommodation.

Prerequisites
Course documentation of STCW Basic Safety Course (not older than four years) or twelve months of seagoing service in the last five years provides the opportunity to be trained at an Norwegian Oil and Gas GSK refresher courses (this course includes Norwegian Oil and Gas-approved helicopter evacuation courses), and supplemented with GSK e-learning module.

Validity of certificate
The Norwegian Oil and Gas certificate is valid for 4 years. Within 4 years the course must be repeated. The Norwegian Oil and Gas certificate will be issued to the participant at the date of the first module of the STCW training.

Certificate allows to work also in offshore oil and gas sector in Netherlands and Denmarkwithout the need to take additional modules (Matrix of the Mutual recognition of basic & refresher safety and emergency preparedness training (PDF)).

In order to work in UK sector additional training of CA EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System) training is necessary.

The course can be carried out in English and Norwegian.

Offshorekurs pakken

 

Går du med en drøm om å starte en karriere offshore? Da er “Offshorekurs-pakken” et skritt nærmere målet. For å jobbe som dekksarbeider kreves det at du har:

Kursene gjennomføres over to kursuker. I tillegg kommer også 8 t praktisk kjøring på traverskran som er inkludert i offshorepakken, men dato for kjøretreningen må avtales ved påmelding.

For å få Traverskranfører G4 sertifikat må du i tillegg til dette enten samle 32 timer kjøretrening i bedrift, eller ta kontakt med oss for å ta 16 timer praktisk kjøring før oppkjøring. Vi gjør oppmerksom på at 32 timer dokumentert kjøring må gjøres i egen bedrift.

Grunnleggende sikkerhetsopplæring – GSK (Norsk olje og gass)

For å kunne reise offshore trenger du et gyldig Norsk olje og gass sikkerhetskurs.

Målsetting:
Å motivere den enkelte kursdeltaker til aktivt å fremme et bedre og tryggere arbeidsmiljø. Det legges vekt på forebyggende tiltak som kan hindre skader å mennesker, miljø og utstyr. Ved fullført kurs, skal deltakerne ha grunnleggende kunnskaper og ferdigheter om:

  • HMS kultur og korrekt sikkerhetsadferd
  • Forebygging av arbeidsulykker
  • Bruk av relevante brann-/redningsutstyr
  • Livreddende førstehjelp
  • Kollektive evakueringsmidler
  • Riktig bruk av redningsdrakt med pustelunge
  • Helikopterevakuering (HUET)

Gjennom kurset tilstrebes det å skape positive holdninger til begrepet HMS-kultur, samt forståelse for det sosiale- og fysiske arbeidsmiljøets betydning for liv, helse og verdier i arbeid samt fritid.

Målgruppe:
Sokkelarbeidende personell.

Forkunnskap:
Dag 1 (mandag) er kun E-læringskurs GSK. Det er valgfritt om du vil ta den her på kurssenteret eller hjemme via internett.

Varighet:
4 dager (tirsdag – fredag) forutsetter at E-læringskurs GSK er fullført.

Grunnleggende sikkerhetsopplæring repetisjon (Norsk olje og gass)

For å kunne reise offshore trenger du et gyldig Norsk olje og gass sikkerhetskurs.

Målsetting:
Oppdatere kursdeltagerens forståelse og ferdigheter til å ivareta egen og andres sikkerhet i en krisesituasjon og bidra til sikker adferd. Ved fullført kurs, skal deltakerne ha vedlikeholdt og oppdatert kunnskaper og ferdigheter om:

 

  • Riktig sikkerhetsatferd
  • Bruk av håndslukker
  • Livreddende førstehjelp
  • Bruk av redningsstrømpe
  • Riktig bruk av redningsdrakt med pustelunge
  • Helikopterevakuering (HUET)

 

Målgruppe:
Sokkelarbeidende personell

Forkunnskaper:
Grunnleggende sikkerhets- og beredskapskurs eller tilsvarende likeverdig kompetanse. Personell som ikke har vedlikeholdt sin kompetanse ihht til Norsk olje og gass-krav eller annen likeverdig trening i løpet av de siste 8 år, skal gjennomføre nytt grunnkurs.

Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Course (GSK)

Target group:
For all personnel working offshore on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Objective:
To train the course participant to be able to protect his/her safety in an emergency situation and promote safe behaviour.

The participant should be motivated to promote a better and safer working environment. Emphasis is placed on preventive measures that can avoid injuries to people, the environment and equipment.

After completing the course, the participants will have basic knowledge and skills relating to:

 

 

  • HSE culture and correct safety behaviour
  • Prevention of work accidents
  • Use of relevant fire/rescue equipment
  • Lifesaving first-aid
  • Collective means of evacuation
  • Correct use of survival suit with emergency breathing system
  • Helicopter evacuation (HUET)

The course aims to create positive attitudes to the term “HSE culture”, as well as understanding for the social and physical working environment’s significance for life, health and values in work as well as recreational time.

Prerequisite knowledge:
E-learning course BST.

Basic Safety and Emergency Preparedness Refresher Course (GSK rep)

Goal:
Update the course participant’s knowledge and ability to protect his/her safety in an emergency situation and promote safe behaviour. After completing the course, the participants should have maintained and updated knowledge and skills relating to:

 

 

  • Correct safety behaviour
  • Use of a hand-held fire extinguisher
  • Lifesaving first aid
  • Use of escape chute
  • Correct use of survival suit with emergency breathing system
  • Helicopter evacuation (HUET)

Target group:
Personnel working on the continental shelf.

Prerequisites knowledge:
Basic safety and emergency preparedness course or corresponding equivalent competence. Personnel that have not maintained their competence pursuant to requirements of Norwegian Oil and Gas Association or other equivalent training during the last four years, must complete a new basic course.

Technical College Petroleum

Technical College Petroleum – Level 1

Introduction:
Technical College Petroleum (TCP) offers specialized distance learning programs tailored specifically for offshore and onshore personnel within Drilling Departments who possess the knowledge required to assume higher positions. Other professionals in the field are encouraged to attend this study program in order to further their knowledge within Petroleum Technology.

These programs aim at providing training to drilling technicians, whose qualifications lie between those of skilled workers and engineers. Drilling technicians will have sufficient professional competence to supervise operational personnel on board drilling units.

  • onshore or offshore employees who want to increase their theoretical knowledge of petroleum technology.

Content:

Study materials are found in Norwegian Petroleum Academy portal. Students will not be required to have a printed edition of the book. All the study materials needed are available as net-based books. Students will receive access to Norwegian Petroleum Academy portal where all the study materials are readily available. Study materials are approved by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research.

Prerequisites:
At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
Applications are subject to screening.

Duration:
6 months.

16.000,- NOK.

This includes the full internet-based study package of: online learning resources, presentations, streamed lectures, instructor support, assessment and documentation. Prices may be subject to change on a yearly basis according to general changes in industry.
